Clipper Challenge – Cornwall Marine Network

Exciting new opportunity for young people aged 14-19 who find themselves at risk of becoming disengaged from education employment or training.

clipperThe Cornwall Marine Network has identified funding to offer 340 to young people at risk of becoming NEET, places on their Clipper Challenge Programme.  Each programme will take a cohort of 20, the young people will take part in 2 days intensive training and assesment in crewing a Clipper.  They will have opportunities to enjoy team building activities and gain knowledge of first aid and sailing.  The programme will take place at Lusty Glaze and at the end of the programme the clipper team will select 10 of the 20 strong cohort to take part in a 7 day residential sailing experience, with the possibility of sailing around the Isle of Wight or to the Channel Islands. 

Those not selected for the full sailing experience will be offered the opportunity to take part in 6 days of water based activities at the Elemental Water Sports Centre, where they can expect to engage in a variety of sports including Kayaking, Coasteering, Canoeing and Life guarding experiences.

These places are for those who could really benefit from an opportunity to experience a week long commitment to team building and water based activity.  All water proof and safety equipment will be provided, the course is appropriate for non-swimmers and funding can be sought for childcare.

Grassroots Grants – Cornwall Community Foundation - Grassroots Grants is a three-year programme that is funded by the Office of the Third Sector and administered locally in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly by the Cornwall Community Foundation. The aim of the programme is to increase immediate grant funding and capacity building support to small voluntary and community groups and organisations, enabling them to continue or expand their work including advocacy, community voice and service provision.  Maximum Grant: £5k

Cornwall 100 Club Grant - Cornwall Community Foundation - The Cornwall 100 Club Grant is provided by Cornwall 100 and is administered by The Cornwall Community Foundation. It is available for Third Sector Organisationss in Cornwall and The Isles of Scilly. The scheme is intended to support charitable organisations undertaking projects to benefit the community in the following areas:

  • Transport.
  • Poverty.
  • Community and local environment.
  • Disability.
  • Projects for young and elderly people.
  • Projects for marginalised groups.
  • Maximum Grant: £5k

Leonard Laity Stoate Charitable Trust Grant - The Leonard Laity Stoate Charitable Trust Grant is provided and administered by the Leonard Laity Stoate Charitable Trust and is available for Third Sector Organisations in the South West of England, particularly Bristol, Cornwall, Dorset, Somerset, Gloucestershire and North Wiltshire. The scheme is intended to support a range of charitable purposes.

In particular, the scheme wishes to support projects with the following themes:

  • Medical welfare and disability.
  • Children and young people.
  • The disadvantaged.
  • Community projects.
  • Maximum Grant: £2k
