Commissioning skills training workshop with CYWP and VSF

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012

Cornwall Youth Work Partnership (CYWP) and Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum (VSF)  are offering you the opportunity to acquire the skills which are essential for smaller organisations wishing to be commissioned to deliver public services within Cornwall.

‘Everything you always wanted to know about Commissioning, but were afraid to ask’ will take place on Thursday 6th December from 9:30am – 3:30pm. Location to be confirmed but will be in the Truro area.

This training event will give you the tools to understand the basics of the commissioning process, and prepare your organisation for tendering, offering some key tips on how to avoid common tendering pitfalls, and advice on how to write effective tenders.

Penni Barker, 13-19 Commissioning Manager for  Cornwall Council’s Children, Schools and Families Directorate, and Karlene Stokes, Category Lead (Care Sector) Procurement, Cornwall Council, will attend for part of the day to answer questions and queries.

We welcome anyone who is part of an organisation or community group thinking about tendering, individuals who support other groups, and those who are currently responsible for making tenders but who feel their skills may be a little rusty.

Places are limited so please book early (booking deadline 20th November 2012). Places are FREE to member organisations of Cornwall VSF or Cornwall Youth Work Partnership.  Otherwise, there is a £15 charge per place to cover administration and catering costs.

If you require more information about the event, please contact Claire Watkins, Communications and Membership Officer – claire.watkins@cornwallvsf.org or 01872 241584.

CYWP seek finance and administrative service

Thursday, July 26th, 2012

Cornwall Youth Work Partnership is looking to strengthen its financial systems and carefully enlarge the staff team to grow their work through fund raising and related activities. We are starting small and proceeding carefully, so it will involve 6 hours per week, initially for one year.

CEO Richard Mckie would like to hear from local VCS organisations able to provide this role through a Service Level Agreement. If you think you are in this position, take a look at the role description here  and, in no more than 2 sides of A4, describe how you would provide this service, the name, qualifications and experience of the person who would operate the service (if known) and the total annual cost, all by the close of play on Monday 13th August 2012.

You will need to be able to cover the essential criteria as a minimum; please note that the 6 hours per week will usually be spent in our office in Redruth, with exact timings to be agreed. Submissions need to be made electronically and sent to Richard.mckie@cywp.org.uk in the format above, by the deadline stipulated.
