What Are Employers Looking for from Education and Skills?

Tuesday, March 26th, 2013

A Summary of Recent Research

CYWP have produced a report which summarises some local and national research that look at the question of what employers need from education and skills programmes.  The local research was a small employer survey carried out for Cornwall Integrated Youth Service as part of the Accreditation Review in December 2012.  The review was written by the National Youth Agency (NYA) and the Regional Youth Work Unit (RYWU).  The two national reports are the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) Education and Skills Survey 2012 and the Wolf Report, published in 2011.

Accreditation and Training Needs Survey Report

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012

The Accreditation and Training Needs Survey was carried out between April and September 2012.

The purpose of the survey was to find out from members of Cornwall Youth Work Partnership what accredited opportunities are currently offered to young people, what members may want to offer in the future and any barriers to offering accreditation. The survey also looked at the training needs of staff and barriers to accessing further training. A draft report was taken to the CYWP Standing Group on Training and Vocational Education and Full Partners Meeting in September 2012 to gain further direction and feedback.

Ultimately, this report will be used to guide the direction of the work of the Accreditation Development Manager and CYWP and also act as the basis for funding bid applications. Read the report here.
